The individual in this role will have the opportunity to provide support for and within the assigned relational database platform to ensure appropriate performance, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades are administered.

The targeted hiring range for this role is $81,400 - $101,800, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate, as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and / or may be considered for other positions.

The individual in this role will have the opportunity to provide support for and within the assigned relational database platform to ensure appropriate performance, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades are administered.
What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?
- Establishes and performs administrator functions such as database management, user management, and storage management.
- Creates and manages system configuration specifications, training manuals, and other internal system documentation.
- Creates and manages database maintenance procedures.
- Creates and manages database backup and restore procedures.
- Troubleshoots any issues; logs and tracks identified issues until successfully resolved.
- Stays current with releases and new functionalities; communicates and manages upgrades, releases, and the change control process.
- Participates in and supports internal database technology efforts as a subject matter expert.
- Utilizes knowledge, experience, and available resources to find solutions.
- Maintains regular contact with the IT Development and Network Operations teams.
- Maintains occasional contact with outside vendors and third-party consultants.
- Maintains occasional contact with end users.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
What are the must-have qualifications for a candidate?
- Demonstrated understanding of relational database administration.
- Proven experience with the SQL programming language.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery technologies and concepts.
- Experience with troubleshooting performance of relational database engines.
- Understanding of underlying operating system storage and networking.
- Basic understanding of business intelligence software platforms.
- Good organizational and prioritization skills with proven ability to multitask.
- Demonstrated aptitude toward problem identification and resolution.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Proven ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion.
- Ability to follow project management practices.
- Highly motivated individual with a proven ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Knowledge of cloud relational or nonrelational data storage engines.
- Two years of experience with managing Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Two years of experience with managing PostgreSQL environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent training, education, or experience required; experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
