Job Description
Peterson Power Systems has a need for a Rental Operations Manager at our Hillsboro, OR location.
Summary
This position oversees all aspects of the branch store Rental operations, efforts to include the daily scheduling of shipping equipment, fleet management, salesman support, technical support, inside sales and technician supervision. Additionally, the Rental Operations Manager will assist other facilities (operations managers), train and instill best practices according to Peterson Power guidelines.

Bachelor’s Degree from a fully accredited college in a related field; and a minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience in the rental equipment operations business, preferably in a heavy industrial environment where equipment mix includes large power generation, compressed air, and temperature control; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

- Manage the Rental Division equipment fleet. This includes, but is not limited to, knowing the capability of the equipment, what is available to rent/sell, and where the equipment is physically located.
- Ensure that the maintenance of the fleet is up to date and that information is available to all salesmen.
- Ensure all third-party relations/services are set up in compliance with Peterson management guidelines, the performance of third-party companies are monitored on a regular basis, and that all companies adhere to all local and federal safety regulations. Work with Risk Management to set up new third-party vendor agreements.
- Technical Communicator - Respond to general questions from customers and sales representatives regarding fleet availability. Field support as required to assist sales representatives.
- Ensure Rental General Manager is aware of problems regarding the status of jobs which will lose money, lost jobs, and jobs that are profitable for future use. Note any trends.
- Support rental salesmen daily with risk analysis of certain jobs, availability of equipment, recommendations on installations, scheduling and pricing.
- Monitor and direct service technicians in equipment prep, daily scheduling, and instills solid work ethics.
- Internal Relations - Constantly interact with the Service Department to ensure accurate scheduling, conflict resolution, and a good working relationship. Maintain liaison with parts management and communicate frequently with other area managers.
- Assist the Rental General Manager regarding the training of rental personnel on best practices, competition, technical aspects of certain jobs, how to ensure profitability and collections.
- Respond to suggestions, makes recommendations regarding all aspects of the Power Rental Operation to the Rental General Manager.
- Project Accuracy - Within the responsibilities associated with Operations, maintain and be accountable for accuracy of projects.
- Operate as profit center and within scope of company mission statement; working with the Rental General Manager, develop and monitor budget; act to control costs and reduce expenses; contribute and encourage the submission of cost improvement ideas.
- Oversee work order closing process; periodically review work orders for accuracy and completeness, and the appropriateness of parts and labor.
- Conduct safety meetings, accident investigations, and train department personnel on safe work procedures.
- Maintain and ensure safe and healthful working conditions as set forth in facility safety program; ensure compliance with environmental regulations as set forth in company hazardous materials and environmental protection programs.
- Keep current on technical aspects of function and on relevant company and Caterpillar policies and procedures.
- Oversee and approve time cards daily; ensure time is reviewed and approved at the end of each pay period.
- Coordinate parts ordering and delivery as needed.
- Keep current on service, repair, and modification procedures for all brands and models of products assigned to the department.
- Provide technical support and assistance for department activities including failure analysis
- Monitors need for training to department technicians as needed and advise Senior Rental Operations Manager.
- Oversee the inventory and maintenance of department tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Monitor and maintain department equipment and vehicles in good working order.

- Must have proven experience working with customers, different internal departments, and employees at different levels of an organization.
- For locations where this position has direct reports, a minimum of 2 years of employee management experience is required
