We are seeking a driven Business Development Associate to expand our clinical and research partnerships in support of therapeutic discovery. In this role, you will take the lead in selling Pattern’s value proposition, generating new leads, and building strong relationships with clinical institutions, pharma, CROs, and other strategic partners. You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities, negotiating agreements, and ensuring smooth execution of collaborations that advance Pattern’s research and business objectives. This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of science and business development, combining sales acumen, relationship management, and operational execution in a fast-paced startup environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Proactively generate leads and cultivate new opportunities with hospitals, clinical networks, pharma, CROs, and other potential partners
  • Clearly articulate and sell Pattern’s value proposition to prospective partners, tailoring the message to their research and operational needs
  • Establish and maintain long-term strategic partnerships to support biospecimen acquisition and collaborative research programs
  • Negotiate and manage sponsored research agreements, ensuring clear terms, timely execution, and alignment with Pattern’s objectives
  • Generate leads and build relationships with potential pharma partners to advance Pattern’s clinical programs and pipeline
  • Collaborate with internal scientific teams to align partnership goals with technical and research priorities
  • Represent Pattern Biosciences in meetings, site visits, conferences, and presentations to build brand visibility and credibility
  • Ensure all partnership activities adhere to ethical, legal, and regulatory standards (HIPAA, IRB, compliance requirements, etc.)
  • Stay current on industry trends and identify emerging opportunities for Pattern to expand its partnerships and market presence


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. with 2+ years of industry experience in business development, partnerships, or sales within life sciences, healthcare, or biotech
  • Proven ability to generate leads, sell solutions, and close partnerships with clinical institutions, healthcare organizations, pharma, or CROs
  • Strong knowledge of contract negotiation, partnership structures, and research collaborations
  • Familiarity with clinical research processes, biobanking, or patient-derived models is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of delivering persuasive presentations
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple business development opportunities simultaneously
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a sales-driven mindset who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment
