The Director, Property Lines is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of the Physical Damage, Material Damage, Cargo, and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) teams within the Claims organization at Canal. This role will ensure high-quality claims handling, regulatory compliance, fraud mitigation, and effective vendor management across all property-related lines of business.

The Director, Property Lines is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of the Physical Damage, Material Damage, Cargo, and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) teams within the Claims organization at Canal. This role will ensure high-quality claims handling, regulatory compliance, fraud mitigation, and effective vendor management across all property-related lines of business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Auto Property, Material Damage, Physical Damage, and SIU teams.
- Develop and implement best practices for claims handling, fraud detection, and vendor management.
- Oversee performance and compliance of third-party vendors, including appraisers, adjusters, and investigative services.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in claims outcomes and customer experience.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development for team members.
- Support strategic initiatives led by the VP, Chief Claims Officer.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in property claims and fraud prevention.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or industry certifications preferred.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in claims, preferably in commercial auto or trucking insurance.
- Proven leadership experience managing claims teams and vendors.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating service contracts.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in claims management systems and data analytics tools.
- Deep understanding of commercial trucking insurance and related property lines.
- Ability to build strong relationships across departments and with external partners.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
