This position requires knowledge and experience in naval architecture and structural engineering. The Engineer will develop marine structural designs, drawings, and other products to meet commercial and military technical requirements and the requirements of our clients. To be successful, the candidate must be proactive, a self-starter, and possess excellent time management and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Lead and approve the structural design and analysis of ship structures across all design phases
  • Manage and conduct finite element analysis using tools such as FEMAP/NASTRAN, to assess yielding, buckling, vibration response, fatigue, and dynamic loading profiles.
  • Perform structural analyses for both initial design and retrofit/upgrade scenarios
  • Review and interpret ABS, ASTM, ISO, and Navy specifications applicable to the design, analysis, and testing of structure, ensuring full contract and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, review, and maintain structural drawings, calculation packages, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Perform ship checks, write work items, and develop estimate for ship alterations.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces across disciplines (electrical, mechanical) to resolve structural interferences and establish practical design solutions.
  • Support the development and application of department-specific analysis tools, spreadsheets, and workflows to increase productivity and traceability of structural analysis.
  • Assist is the development of maintenance plans and procedure for periodic maintenance and regulatory maintenance and inspection.
  • Assist in the development of scheduling plans of action and milestones.
  • Assist logistics personnel identify replacement parts and equipment for unsupported technology.

Education/Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture or Structural Engineering.
  • Five (5) years or more experience in the marine industry.
