The Ford Foundation Equity Initiative (FFEI) Internship Program at The Henry Ford is a cohort-based program that offers professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities. We invite diverse candidates* who are curious about careers in the museum world to become a part of our legacy and take it forward. For Winter 2026, internships will last 15 weeks, projected to begin on January 26th and conclude on May 8th.

How will we work together?

The Analytics and Business Intelligence Intern will play a key role in supporting data-driven decision-making across The Henry Ford. This hybrid internship offers a hybrid experience at our Dearborn campus, depending on project needs.

Working closely with the Business Intelligence, Reporting, & Analytics department, the intern will gain hands-on experience in analytics, dashboard development, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that span multiple departments, helping to uncover insights that inform strategy, enhance visitor experiences, and optimize internal operations.

You Can Expect

  • Assist in the development and refinement of dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI and Excel.
  • Support data mining, cleaning, and transformation efforts to ensure accuracy and usability.
  • Collaborate with marketing, earned revenue, retail, and other departments to deliver actionable insights.
  • Participate in consumer insights research and contribute to performance analysis reporting.
  • Help organize and optimize existing data systems and workflows.
  • Receive mentorship and training tailored to your current skill level and professional goals.

What should you have?

  • Proficiency in working with most systems and tools we currently use (Power BI, Excel, Google Data Studio)
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and experience with data querying and manipulation.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail and ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Previous internship or project experience in data analysis or visualization is a plus.

The Ford Foundation Equity Initiative Internship Program Overview and Time Commitment

The FFEI Internship Program’s mission is to offer opportunities in museum work to emerging professionals who identify with historically marginalized groups and to invite our interns to think outside the box and explore their careers in new ways. 

Participants will engage in the program through various bi-weekly professional development workshops hosted on our Dearborn campus. It is mandatory for participants to attend, and applicants should work with their leadership to ensure proper attendance. Workshops typically occur on Wednesdays during the work week. 

Attendance to our Intern Orientation is also mandatory. Our Winter 2026 orientation will occur on January 26th, 2026.
