The BIM/VDC Manager is responsible for overseeing BIM/VDC needs in the Southeast Region, including scheduling shop drawings, coordinating with all trades, prioritizing resources, and ensuring project deadlines are met. This role requires hands-on technical expertise in BIM and CAD platforms, with a strong understanding of building construction and inter-trade coordination. The position also involves producing as-built drawings and managing BIM personnel and resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of BIM modelers working on mechanical and plumbing systems across multiple projects.
  • Provide overall direction for BIM initiatives, including implementation, integration, development, training, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure regional staff adheres to standard operating procedures and company processes.
  • Use company BIM/CAD software to support hands-on coordination as needed.
  • Manage and hire draftsmen to meet project demands.
  • Collaborate with the corporate BIM/VDC team to manage regional workload.
  • Oversee outsourced drafting services, including procurement and subcontractor management.
  • Review CAD/BIM files daily to monitor productivity and quality.
  • Coordinate with the CAD superintendent to resolve construction issues uncovered during modeling.
  • Mentor junior coordinators on BIM standards, trade-specific knowledge, and software proficiency.
  • Attend turnover, close-out, and coordination meetings to support CAD, Pre-Fab, and CAM needs.
  • Facilitate or participate in project coordination meetings as needed.
  • Partner with project managers to estimate and budget coordination/design-related costs for RFIs and change orders.
  • Review and approve coordination-related RFIs before submission.
  • This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. The employee must be capable of performing physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and lifting within OSHA ergonomic safety guidelines. Safe lifting techniques must be used to comply with all applicable workplace safety standards.
