Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this entry level role is to support production by kitting jobs, pulling parts from stock locations, and ensuring materials are readily available for assembly. Secondary duties include maintaining inventory accuracy, organizing shelves, and keeping the workspace clean. During downtime, the Material Handler will assist with miscellaneous assembly tasks, utilizing basic hand tools. Forklift operation is a critical requirement for this position. New to the industry? Job Qualification

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • 6 months of Forklift experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for inventory management and kitting.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory tracking systems or willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks and maintaining a clean workspace
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and perform light assembly tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Kitting & Material Handling: Accurately pull parts from designated stock locations to prepare kits for production jobs, ensuring timely and correct delivery to the production floor.
  • Inventory Processing: Sort and organize shelves to maintain accurate inventory counts, perform regular stock checks, issue parts in inventory software and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Forklift Operation: Safely operate a forklift to move materials, load/unload deliveries, and transport items within the shop as needed.
  • Workspace Maintenance: Keep stock areas, workstations, and shop floor clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Assembly Support: Assist with miscellaneous assembly tasks during downtime, using hand tools and following instructions from production staff.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of materials and equipment.

Other Job Functions

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and warehouse improvement projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions

  • Working in a shop environment and must follow all safety, housekeeping, and organizational policies.
  • Able to sit and work at computer keyboard or workstation for extended period.
  • Able to stand for long periods and have significant physical stamina.
  • Able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to climb stairs, work at heights.
  • Maintain regular and on-time attendance. Position is 40 hours per week but may exceed 40 hours per week.
