Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and internal controls within the gaming facility. This position ensures accuracy in financial records, compliance with regulatory and tax requirements, and supports operational efficiency. The role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple financial functions in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and review general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Ensure compliance with all gaming commission regulations, tax laws, and financial reporting standards.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and external auditors.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation and explanations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, as needed.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in the gaming, hospitality, or entertainment industry.
  • Experience with accounting software and financial systems.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to apply.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Regularly required to stand, speak, hear, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Office environment: moderately quiet.
  • Gaming floor environment: may be loud and subject to exposure to cigarette smoke.
