The Vice President of Retail Operations (Social Enterprises) provides leadership, strategy, and oversight for all Idaho Youth Ranch social enterprise operations, most notably our thrift stores, distribution operations and vehicle sales, which both generate revenue and create opportunities for training and growth. As a key organizational leader, the VP ensures our business operations are financially sound, mission-driven, and aligned with the organization’s values. This role is about balancing strong retail and business management with a passion for using enterprise as a tool for social impact.

How will you impact our mission?
- Strategic Leadership
- Shape and guide the vision, strategy, and performance of IYR’s social enterprises.
- Partner with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to align enterprise growth with organizational goals.
- Model and nurture IYR’s culture and values across all enterprise operations.
- Business & Operations Oversight
- Lead all aspects of our multi-unit thrift store & retail operations, distribution, eCommerce and vehicle sales teams to ensure consistent customer experience and mission alignment.
- Manage P&L accountability, budgeting and retail analytics to ensure a sustainable social enterprise model.
- Create scalable systems, controls, and processes to support long-term success.
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement at all levels of the organization.
- Mission Integration
- Collaborate with programs leadership to expand youth training, employee development, and other mission-focused initiatives within social enterprises.
- Partner with the Chief Advancement Officer to maximize donor, shopper, and community engagement through our enterprise sites.
- Position stores and enterprises as ambassadors for IYR’s mission.
- People & Culture
- Build a people-centered, growth-oriented workplace for staff and volunteers.
- Recruit, mentor, and empower team members to succeed personally and professionally.
- Lead the Social Enterprise committee, engaging volunteers and community supporters in sustaining a strong business model.
Required
- Solid knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and fiscal management.
- Strong track record in business leadership, preferably 10+ years.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to IYR’s values: Relationships, Commitment, Growth, Compassion, Transparency, and Joy.
- Experience with strategic planning and execution.
- Experience with point-of-sale systems (POS), retail analytics and data-driven decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general business technology.
- Bachelor’s degree with significant business leadership experience, or a master’s degree in a business-related field.
- Executive experience in retail or social enterprise management.
