About The Role
POSITION SUMMARY
The PRN Care Coordinator provides administrative and patient support services on an as-needed basis. This role assists with referral processing, patient registration, verification of benefits, insurance authorizations, appointment scheduling, and communication with referral sources. The PRN Care Coordinator works collaboratively with the care team to ensure patients receive seamless service and support during coverage needs.

The Pay Range For This Role Is
19.00 - 22.00 USD per hour

About The Role

This role assists with referral processing, patient registration, verification of benefits, insurance authorizations, appointment scheduling, and communication with referral sources. The PRN Care Coordinator works collaboratively with the care team to ensure patients receive seamless service and support during coverage needs.
What You'll Do
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review referral requests generated by primary care physicians and onsite specialists.
- Coordinate patient appointments and communicate date, time, and preparation instructions.
- Secure and maintain patient confidential health information.
- Assist in processing referral authorizations per health plan protocols and systems (e.g., Availity).
- Support urgent referral appointment scheduling as directed by the Primary Care Physician or onsite specialist.
- Document missed appointments and reschedules in the EHR as needed.
- Scan and index documents into the EHR, ensuring consult notes and supporting documentation are available.
- Provide support to colleagues to ensure smooth office operations and excellent patient service.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience in office administration, receptionist/clerical work, or customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Professional demeanor and strong communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience working with an electronic health record (EHR)
- Experience processing referral authorizations
- Familiarity with Availity or other referral platforms
- Medical office setting experience highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
