Position
BCF’s Marketing & Communications team is responsible for strategic communications to multiple audiences to grow awareness of the Foundation and to support BCF’s fund development strategies and programmatic goals. The Marketing & Communications Officer, reporting to the Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications, is a well-rounded content marketer who is responsible for developing and distributing content that brings BCF’s key messages to life, resulting in increased awareness of the organization and increased participation in its offerings across target audiences. This person contributes to overall marketing and content strategy development and bears primary responsibility for managing BCF’s digital presence.
BCF offers a flexible, hybrid work environment. The Marketing & Communications Officer is expected to work in office at least three days a week.

Responsibilities
- Develop understanding of and empathy with target audience(s) to develop relevant content and calls to action. Content development includes:
- Identifying, developing, writing, and editing compelling stories that align with BCF’s key messages and strategic goals outlined in the strategic and annual marketing/communications plans.
- Writing long-form blog and article pieces for the BCF Newsroom with an SEO-first approach
- Creating and managing BCF’s social media and email marketing content, including campaign development
- Producing and editing photo and video content for BCF’s YouTube and social media channels
- Designing simple, branded graphics to support social media, web, and email marketing channels
- Support BCF’s Donor Services and Community Investment teams with timely communications planning and development of materials, including event related collateral, information sheets and mailers.
- Own and maintain BCF’s library of media, including collateral, photography, and video, ensuring all materials are accurate, up to date, and easily accessible. Serve as the primary liaison between departments requesting updates and the design or production teams executing revisions.
- Manage BCF’s brand presence across social media channels by developing strategic content calendars, leading content planning meetings, establishing campaign themes, coordinating posting schedules, monitoring engagement and relevant conversations, reporting on content analytics on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, and positioning BCF as a thought leader in philanthropy and the Baltimore-area nonprofit sector.
- Serve as project manager for BCF’s website (Wordpress). Make basic content updates and work with developer to build new pages as required, ensure all content is up-to-date, and regularly monitor, analyze, and report on analytics. Work with developer to ensure all elements and modules are functioning correctly.
- Ensure BCF’s brand identity is consistent across all communications and platforms. Includes: Managing use of logo and graphic identity for BCF; create and coordinate application of logos/graphic identities for special initiatives and projects. Ensure all BCF print and electronic materials adhere to BCF style guidelines.
- Create and maintain a Marketing & Communications Master Calendar incorporating owned, earned and paid media, and a robust schedule of events, mailings, publications, e-news and social media, and online and print materials supporting all organizational and department goals.
- Own and manage BCF’s email marketing campaigns through Mailchimp, including campaign planning, content coordination, audience segmentation, scheduling, testing, and performance reporting.
- Working with outside vendors to solicit competitive bids and manage the full production cycle for print and electronic materials.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the overall Marketing and Communications plan.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Experience in a Communications and/or Marketing role is a must, along with experience in content development and/or social media management;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills enabling clear and concise communication of concepts in a compelling and understandable matter to the applicable audience;
- Intermediate graphic design skills, with experience creating and editing visual assets for social media, email, and web content while maintaining brand consistency. ;
- Proven ability to capture and edit photo and video content for social media and other digital marketing initiatives;
- Engaged in ongoing learning about emerging technologies in news and social media;
- Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member; happy in a high-speed, multiple-task environment; able to manage time productively
- Ability to grasp complex ideas rapidly and to retain and recall information
- High standard of professional ethics and discretion

- Familiarity with Wordpress, Google Analytics, Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva, Meltwater or similar social media management and listening software, Meta Business Suite, and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Power Point
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and minimum of 4-6 years professional experience.
