Design SMART GLASSES at Mentra - UI/UX Lead

Mentra

Date: 9 hours ago
City: San Francisco, CA
Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 per year
Contract type: Full time
Smart glasses are the next personal computer, and we’re building the open source OS for smart glasses. This year we graduated Y Combinator and raised an $8M seed round to make it real.

Powering the smart glasses experience is is the Mentra phone app: the hub where users connect their glasses and run apps.

Unlike Phones, Smart Glasses Apps Aren’t Icons On a Home Screen. They’re Proactive, Always-on, And Working In The Background

  • In class, a professor says “ASR”, the Definer app defines the term
  • Leaving class, local speaks Chinese, the Translator app shows it in real time
  • You’ve got a date in 15 minutes, the Uber app auto-books the car and directs you to it

We’re looking for someone with a background in mobile design, UI, UX, wireframing, product design, etc. to come help us build the interface for the next personal computer. You’d start by owning the UI/UX of the Mentra phone app, with room to eventually influence design decisions across MentraOS (e.g. designing the smart glasses display UI).

There is no standard UI for handling apps that don’t fit into a grid on your home screen. The industry hasn’t figured it out. You could invent it with us and hone it to power the next 8 billion personal computers. Reach out.
