Job Summary
The Teen Program Director manages and leads a comprehensive teen program for members. This role provides direct program leadership, guidance, and support to foster a positive environment for teens to develop life skills, character, leadership, and healthy behaviors. The Teen Program Director is responsible for program development, staff supervision, and outcome assessment across the Club’s core areas of health and life skills and character and leadership.

The Teen Program Director is responsible for program development, staff supervision, and outcome assessment across the Club’s core areas of health and life skills and character and leadership.

Program Development & Implementation
- Assess teen member needs and develop a comprehensive program in collaboration with direct program staff, utilizing the Teen Center, Learning Center, and gym.
- Oversee the Teen Center and teen-focused programs, ensuring alignment with BGCA Core Areas.
- Implement guidance programs to support teens in developing positive values, ethical behavior, and decision-making skills.
- Develop specialized programs or make referrals for teens facing personal, emotional, behavioral, financial, or family challenges.
- Plan, manage, and evaluate programs with staff to ensure delivery of high-quality teen programming in health and life skills, character and leadership, sportsmanship, and BGCA national programs.
- Measure program outcomes annually, including teen grades, attendance, graduation rates, and physical fitness engagement.
- Foster a positive, supportive climate where teens feel respected, recognized, and encouraged to actively participate in activities.
- Administer the teen behavior management system, ensuring proper documentation and consistent enforcement of Club policies.
- Communicate with parents, school staff, and social services professionals regarding behavioral or disciplinary concerns.
- Advocate for the well-being of teens and maintain ongoing communication with staff, families, and community partners.
- Set job responsibilities and supervise teen program staff to ensure daily implementation of teen initiatives.
- Train, evaluate, and mentor staff to develop the skills needed for effective teen program delivery.
- Ensure staff adhere to program objectives, behavior management policies, and safety standards.
- Manage program supply budgets and submit annual budget requests; oversee expenditures within approved guidelines.
- Promote programs through daily schedules, announcements, flyers, newsletters, and personal outreach.
- Manage administrative duties, including tracking participation, compiling reports, and supporting grant-funded program reporting.
- Plan and oversee Summer Teen Camp operations, including staffing, programming, and program outcomes.
- Serve as a positive role model for teen members.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
- Follow all organizational policies, safety standards, and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws.

JOB QUALIFICIATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Child Development, or related field preferred; 1–3 years of experience with youth programming may substitute for degree.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Experience developing teen programs and activities to foster positive youth development.
- Ability to assess, mentor, counsel, and advocate for teens.
- Experience managing budgets and program expenditures.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with youth, parents, and colleagues.
- CPR and First Aid certification required and must be maintained.
- Valid driver’s license with clean record; ability to obtain CDL-B with passenger endorsement within one year of hire.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to pass background checks, including criminal and drug screenings.
- Calm, professional, and flexible in high-stress or large group settings. Flexibility to cover teen program hours, summer programs, and school vacation camps.
- Respond quickly and appropriately in emergencies to ensure teen safety.
- Maintain energy and alertness during extended shifts in high-energy settings.
- Lift and carry up to 20 lbs. occasionally; sit for periods as required.
- Perform physical tasks including bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs.
- Use general office equipment including phones, copiers, and computers.
- Operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment with visual acuity.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions with moderate noise levels. Accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
