What You'll Be Doing As a Landscape Architect/Designer
- Create innovative, custom designs for residential, commercial, and municipal properties in Appleton and surrounding areas
- Select the perfect plants, trees, and hardscape materials tailored to each property's unique needs
- Collaborate with clients and team members, ensuring clear and effective communication throughout the design process
- Work closely with sales consultants to develop final designs and provide expert guidance
- Conduct property measurements, shoot grades, and ensure compliance with local code requirements
- Prepare detailed design plans, including site layouts, outdoor living spaces, and construction drawings
- Attend meetings with clients to present designs and gather feedback for revisions
- Continuously improving knowledge by participating in professional development workshops and industry events
- Manage projects from initial concept to final implementation, ensuring deadlines are met and expectations exceeded
- Foster strong relationships with clients, providing excellent customer service and maintaining long-term connections
- Utilize AutoCAD and other design software to create accurate, high-quality presentations and construction drawings
- Stay up to date with the latest landscaping trends, materials, and design techniques
- Minimum of a two-year degree in a horticulture-related field or equivalent experience
- At least two years of hands-on experience in Landscape Design with proven design skills
- Strong horticultural knowledge, including plant selection, growth habits, and maintenance requirements
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Dynascape, and SketchUp for creating professional designs and presentations
- Deep passion for landscape design and commitment to the profession
- Ability to thrive both independently and within a collaborative, fast-paced team environment
- Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously and effectively meeting deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and design aesthetics
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, team members, and contractors
- Willingness to stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies to enhance design expertise
- Ability to adapt to varying project scopes, client needs, and site conditions to deliver optimal results
- Ability to walk and traverse various terrains while conducting property measurements and site analysis.
- Ability to lift and carry design materials, presentation boards, or samples weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to spend extended periods sitting at a desk, using AutoCAD and other design software to create plans and presentations.
- Physical ability to conduct site visits in varying weather conditions (e.g., rain, heat, cold), as needed.
- Ability to bend, kneel, or squat when measuring properties, reviewing landscaping elements, or assessing site conditions.
- Ability to engage in occasional travel to client sites, meetings, and job fairs, requiring driving and navigating different locations.
- Capacity to collaborate with team members in a dynamic environment, frequently moving between workstations and client meetings.
- Ability to maintain focus and effectiveness while managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
