Description

The Compliance Specialist plays a key role in maintaining operational integrity and mitigating regulatory risk.

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring organizational adherence to federal and international regulations related to cargo security, export documentation, and hazardous materials handling. This role supports the Compliance Department by conducting audits, maintaining regulatory documentation, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to uphold standards across TSA, EEI, and DG compliance areas.

Salary range: $63,000 - $74,400

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

TSA Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with TSA Indirect Air Carrier (IAC) regulations and cargo security protocols through the practice of daily monitoring and auditing.
  • Manage and monitor employee STA entries and renewals, ensuring timely submissions and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain TSA documentation including Known Shipper records, training logs, and audit reports.
  • Serve as point of contact for TSA inspections and audits.

EEI Filing & Export Compliance

  • Prepare and submit EEI filings via the Automated Export System (AES) in accordance with federal regulations. (as needed).
  • Validate export data including Schedule B numbers, ECCNs, licensing, and destination details.
  • Maintain accurate records of EEI filings and respond to AES alerts and errors.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure proper export documentation and authorization.

Dangerous Goods (DG) Auditing

  • Audit DG shipments for compliance with IATA, DOT, and IMDG regulations.
  • Review DG declarations, packaging, labeling, and documentation for accuracy.
  • Provide guidance on DG handling and regulatory updates.
  • Maintain audit logs and corrective action records.

Compliance Testing & Monitoring

  • Conduct regular internal audits and compliance testing across TSA, EEI, and DG areas.
  • Identify gaps and recommend corrective actions to improve regulatory adherence.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in trade and transportation compliance.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma plus a Bachelor’s degree or certificate in international business, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certified Dangerous Goods Professional (CDGP), Certified Export Specialist (CES), or similar credentials.
  • 3+ years of experience in trade compliance or regulatory affairs.
  • Strong knowledge of TSA cargo security regulations, EEI filing procedures, and DG shipment requirements.
  • Familiarity with AES, EAR, ITAR, IATA, and DOT regulations.
  • Experience with compliance software and export documentation platforms preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, word, PPT, Outlook)
