Summary
We’re hiring a Marketing Associate to join StartX as one of the first dedicated members of our marketing team. Reporting directly to the Senior Marketing Manager, you’ll play a hands-on role in building the systems and processes to power our internal and external communications.
Your first big focus will be email marketing operations — creating a streamlined process for gathering stories and updates from across StartX and turning them into engaging newsletters for alumni, mentors, and the broader community. You will also have the chance to expand your impact across various marketing functions including social media, events, content, and PR.
This role is perfect for someone who’s highly organized, proactive, and hungry to grow into a well-rounded marketer. You’ll gain exposure to every part of a modern marketing function, while helping tell the stories of some of the world’s top startup founders.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end production of StartX newsletters and community emails (weekly, monthly, and ad hoc).
- Design and manage a process for collecting updates, stories, and announcements from internal teams and community members.
- Write and edit clear, engaging content that reflects StartX’s brand voice across email, social, and other channels.
- Analyze email performance metrics and recommend improvements to boost engagement and reach.
- Amplify StartX’s brand presence through social media content, campaigns, and community storytelling.
- Coordinate StartX’s participation in major industry events and conferences (e.g. HumanX, SXSW, Tech Week), including communications and on-the-ground support.
- Partner with staff, alumni, mentors, and external partners to source stories, news, and content opportunities.
- Assist in PR efforts, from drafting press materials to maintaining media lists and tracking coverage.
- Contribute to building a scrappy, flexible, and high-performing marketing function that scales with StartX.
Required:
- 3–5 years of marketing, communications, or related experience.
- Strong organizational and project management skills — able to keep multiple initiatives moving forward at once.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter with a can-do attitude, comfortable with both big-picture thinking and detailed execution.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (ideally HubSpot).
- Background in startups, nonprofits, or fast-paced environments.
- Familiarity with social media management, content creation, or PR.
- Data-driven mindset with comfort analyzing engagement metrics.
