Position Summary

The Reporting & Analytics team delivers enterprise-wide business intelligence solutions to support strategic and operational decision-making across HR, Finance, and business functions. This position exists to design, build, and maintain robust reporting solutions and semantic models using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Databricks, and Azure SQL. The Report Developer / Semantic Model Developer collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to develop impactful visualizations, ensure data integrity, and improve data accessibility through technical expertise in DAX, M (Power Query), SQL, R, or Python. The role also plays a key part in supporting HR systems and analytics, creating actionable insights across the full employee lifecycle.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the management, monitoring, and improvement of enterprise BI Workspaces, supporting IT processes such as change management, release management, and incident management.
  • Serves as the primary subject matter expert for HR reporting across all HR systems, ensuring high-quality analytics that drive business decisions.
  • Develops innovative solutions and analytics frameworks to help the business understand HR patterns and connections across the 'Hire to Retire' lifecycle-creating actionable decision-making tools.
  • Uses HR data and analytics expertise to influence business decisions, creating a competitive advantage across diverse retail brands, supply chain, and shared services.
  • Partners with IT to continuously improve the HR user experience, evaluating HR systems and applications while leveraging industry best practices.
  • Identifies the need for and manages frameworks of policies and technologies to ensure appropriate user access to technology resources.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains semantic models in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, ensuring scalable, governed datasets with optimized relationships, DAX measures, calculated columns, and row-level security (RLS).
  • Authors and optimizes complex queries (SQL, R, Python), stored procedures, views, and custom tables for analytics solutions-integrating with Azure SQL and Databricks.
  • Manages and develops Power BI reporting applications, including installation, customization, testing, and validation; performs quality assurance and identifies design improvements.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into functional data models, reports, and streamlined data processes.
  • Acts as a liaison between central IT and HR, supplying data input and special reports to support HR data management.
  • Works with HR user groups to define information needs and sources; collaborates with IT to develop and budget for proposed solutions.
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of business processes related to key systems, with a strong grasp of HR system functionality and ongoing support needs.
  • Analyzes and documents current business functions to identify areas for process improvement and opportunity.
  • Estimates and evaluates effort for potential projects and enhancements.
  • Supports Power BI Pro users across the organization by providing documentation, mentoring, and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Assists in developing and coaching Power BI Pros, fostering adoption and data literacy.
  • Designs and leads end-user support for Power BI usage, installation, and application best practices.
  • Regularly reviews workspaces and datasets, updating documentation and supporting internal/external testing.
  • Supports UAT and other testing efforts during maintenance cycles, system implementations, and integration projects; assists with test script development and business requirements.
  • Develops, tests, and implements new reporting solutions and enhancements.
  • Evaluates and improves BI tools and methodologies to increase accuracy, functionality, and consistency.
  • Supervises input and integrity of HR-related data; prepares or oversees the creation of special reports and analyses.
  • Supports ad-hoc HR data requests and reporting needs for all brands.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Power BI or Related Certification Required
  • SuccessFactors Certification Preferred
  • MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of HRIS or significant proven analytical experience.
  • 3+ years of Power BI Reporting or Equivalent Configuration Experience Required

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Power BI Desktop & Service, including data modeling, visualization design, workspace management, and deployment pipelines
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Dataflows (Gen1 and Gen2), Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, and Semantic Models
  • Strong command of DAX for creating KPIs, measures, calculated columns, and implementing Row-Level Security (RLS)
  • Expertise in Power Query M language for advanced data shaping, cleansing, and transformation
  • Moderate to advanced experience in SQL, including writing and optimizing queries, views, and stored procedures
  • Working knowledge of Python and PySpark, particularly within Databricks environments
  • Familiarity with Azure SQL, Delta Lake, and modern data Lakehouse architectures
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts such as star schema, normalization, and relationships
  • Experience in report performance tuning, semantic model optimization, and data integration workflows

  • Aptitude for understanding and leveraging both HR and technical concepts to support continuous improvement and redesign efforts
  • Experience supporting user acceptance testing (UAT), documentation, and functional test script execution
  • Ability to identify data integrity issues and recommend practical solutions
  • Experience managing self-service analytics enablement and mentoring business users

Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC , Chicago, IL, Quincy, MA, Carlisle, PA, Scarborough, ME, Hyattsville, MD and Mauldin, SC.
