Contract Duration: 6 months

Worksite Location: Brooklyn Park, MN

Compensation: $60.00 - $90.00 per hour

What you ll do as the Machine Learning Engineer:

• Support and maintain critical batch workflows that generate large-scale forecasts on YARN-managed on-premise clusters
• Monitor, restart, and troubleshoot jobs to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability
• Enhance functionality, stability, and performance of existing jobs with code contributions in Python (PySpark), Bash, R, or Terraform
• Implement observability metrics and monitoring solutions using OpenTelemetry, Kibana, REST APIs, Grafana, and custom instrumentation
• Collaborate through GitHub (PRs, code reviews, branching strategies) to drive improvements and ensure high-quality code delivery
• Contribute to workflow orchestration and infrastructure enhancements, leveraging Airflow or similar tools
• Proactively identify opportunities for optimization and support cross-functional teams with scalable, reliable solutions
  
  

What you ll bring to the Machine Learning Engineer role:

• Hands-on expertise in Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, Apache Spark, Spark ecosystem, Big Data, Docker, Git/GitHub, PySpark, and Python
• Strong background in job monitoring, troubleshooting, and distributed systems operations
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Luigi, or custom equivalents
• Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and Bash scripting for automation
• Familiarity with observability practices, including OpenTelemetry, Kibana, Grafana, REST APIs, and metrics instrumentation
• Knowledge of MLOps concepts and practical experience applying monitoring and automation to machine learning workflows
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
• Clear communication skills with the ability to collaborate across development, data science, and operations teams
• Proactive, reliable, and improvement-focused mindset in balancing operational stability with code development
