Position Title: Insurance Compliance Officer (Designated Responsible Licensed Producer)

Position Summary

The Insurance Compliance Officer, serving as the Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP), is responsible for ensuring the agency’s ongoing compliance with all applicable state and federal insurance regulations, carrier requirements, and internal policies. This role provides oversight of licensing, regulatory filings, and compliance programs while safeguarding the organization from regulatory and reputational risks.

The DRLP will act as the primary point of contact with the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), other state insurance departments, and carriers for all compliance-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Serve as the Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) for the agency, maintaining active and good-standing insurance producer licensing in Texas and other required states.
  • Monitor, interpret, and implement compliance with insurance laws, regulations, and carrier guidelines.
  • Oversee regulatory filings, renewals, audits, and examinations from TDI and other jurisdictions.
  • Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML), data privacy, and consumer protection requirements.

Licensing & Appointments

  • Oversee and maintain the agency’s licensing records for producers, entity licenses, and appointments with carriers.
  • Ensure timely renewal of producer licenses and continuing education (CE) compliance.
  • Act as compliance advisor to producers on licensing and ethical requirements.

Internal Policies & Risk Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews and risk assessments to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide compliance training and guidance to staff, including sales, operations, and customer service teams.

Governance & Reporting

  • Serve as liaison with executive leadership regarding compliance risk and status of regulatory obligations.
  • Maintain records of all compliance incidents, investigations, and resolutions.
  • Prepare reports for leadership and regulators as required.

Qualifications

  • Active Texas General Lines – Property & Casualty or Life & Health Insurance Producer License (required).
  • Must qualify and maintain status as Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) under TDI regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3+years of experience in insurance compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks in Texas and other U.S. jurisdictions.
  • Experience with regulatory filings, audits, and interactions with state insurance departments.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and demonstrated integrity in decision-making.
