- Fully on site position, starting salary negotiable based on experience.
- Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization's payroll process, including data entry and ensuring payroll processing remains compliant, accurate and on time.
- Performing job specific HR tasks as well as general HR requirements.
- Ability and understanding of controller duties to assist when needed.
- Needs to be detail oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
- Processing payroll data, calculating wages, withholding taxes, other deductions and union compliance.
- Maintaining accurate employee records, banking information, vacation and time off, licensing, MVR and background checking.
- Maintaining and managing changes to employee benefits.
- Managing employee status changes.
- Reconciling to general ledger for payroll transactions and accruals.
- Reviewing and staying current with payroll tax laws and changes in employment regulations to ensure compliance.
- Reviewing and updating policies and procedures.
- Documenting and maintaining all payroll records for multiple annual audits.
- Preparing government reporting including certified payroll reporting.
- Preparing and submitting tax forms and tax payments.
- Hiring, training and supervision of administrative staff
- Reviewing and maintaining, for compliance, multiple Union Agreements
- Preparing required union reconciliations, reports and payments.
- Understanding Controller duties and ability to perform if needed.
- Various office management tasks.
Skills Required
- Proficient communication skills including the ability to communicate both verbally and non-verbally with active listening, observing, speaking and empathizing with employees and management.
- Communication with CPAs or legal professionals if complicated issues arise.
- Data entry skills involving a combination of technical computer skills including typing, system and software knowledge, and using programs such as Microsoft Office and payroll processing system.
- Needs the ability to balance and prioritize responsibilities in a manner that helps complete work on time.
- Needs strong time management skills to complete responsibilities while multi-tasking
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Prefer at least 5 years of payroll experience.
