The Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled and inspiring Print Manager to lead our printing operations in our US-based manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has multiple years of experience in a fast-paced environment, setting up, maintaining and running multiple printers, engravers and 3D printers. This person will thrive on optimizing processes, coaching people, and delivering high-quality, sustainable products at scale. This position is based full-time in Phoenix, Arizona, where Open Mind Developments is launching its first U.S.-based manufacturing and fulfillment facility. To be eligible for this role, candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of application. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

The Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily and weekly production schedules to meet customer demand on time.
  • Monitor production output and adjust priorities, resources, and processes to minimize downtime, waste, and delays.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of machines, jigs, materials, and personnel to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics and report on performance against KPIs such as print times, time in queue, and throughput.
  • Implement systems and tools to track order status, prioritize orders, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Drive innovation to develop and optimize printing processes that ensure consistent product quality while growing capabilities and efficiencies.
  • Evaluate and implement process changes or parameter adjustments to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve sustainability.
  • Lead root cause analyses of printing issues, collaborating with Canadian printing operations and outside resources to resolve defects or variability.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance print applications, exploring new techniques and technologies to improve product offerings
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts and pricing to ensure cost-effective procurement of supplies and services.
  • Monitor vendor performance, ensuring timely delivery of materials and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor a team of print operators, ensuring effective communication, training, and performance management.
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance reviews to build skills and foster accountability.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, professional development and proactive problem solving.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and schedule management to cover all production shifts effectively.
  • Partner with the Canada print team to align production needs, optimize operations, and advance tooling and automation to grow and stabilize print capabilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate Mimaki print machines and Epilog engravers to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Conduct and document regular maintenance checks, PMs, and repairs, coordinating with external technicians as necessary.
  • Implement best practices for machine operation and maintenance to extend equipment lifespan and improve print quality.
  • Maintain and hold up-to-date certifications as a Mimaki print technician and as applicable to our shop requirements
  • Establish and maintain adequate levels of consumable parts and spare parts.
  • Manage Quality Assurance to uphold and continuously improve product quality and compliance to specifications.
  • Monitor in-process quality checks, respond to deviations, and implement corrective/preventive actions as required.
  • Support audits and maintain adherence to relevant standards such as ISO, environmental, and safety regulations
  • Promote and uphold health, safety, and environmental standards within the department by conducting inspections and risk assessments while ensuring corrective actions are properly implemented.
  • Champion sustainable manufacturing practices aligned with the company's mission, such as minimizing and composting waste, and optimizing material usage.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in print production management, preferably with Mimaki print machines.
  • 5+ years experience in print production with 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Suite and Adobe design software.
  • Strong technical skills in maintaining and troubleshooting print/engraving equipment.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Solid understanding of production workflows and process optimization.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using production management software and tools.
  • Self-directed problem solver, proactive and resourceful who is comfortable in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to support a seven-day operations.
