The Fleet Maintenance Manager should possess expertise in trucking, be responsible for purchasing, maintaining, and coordinating all repair initiatives of our fleet. The job duties will include managing and monitoring preventative maintenance, maintaining accurate vehicle maintenance records ensuring DOT compliance. Ensuring compliance with manufacturers and dealership warranties. Tracking operations data, such as fuel consumption and mileage. While vehicle mechanical knowledge is the most essential qualification, it is also important to have strong communication and vendor management skills to ensure best results. Experience with diesel and refrigeration equipment is a must.

Work Schedule

  • This is not a remote position
  • Work schedule will be determined with fleet maintenance manager to accomodate the needs of the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of mechanics with various levels of experience
  • Source, Negotiate price, Purchase, and control Trailer, Tractor, and Truck Part inventory with various vendors.
  • Schedule regular preventative maintenance for trucks and trailers
  • Coordinate with our in-house staff and third-party vendors to schedule repairs
  • Track usage and maintenance of fleet, parts, and services
  • Maximize efficiency and minimize the cost of our trucking operations with a 97% or higher in-service rate
  • Track and comply with dealership warranties
  • Maintain accurate and up to date vehicle maintenance records.
  • Coordinate timely annual inspections for trucks located in NY and NJ
  • Manage and coordinate road assistance calls as needed
  • Implement a fleet maintenance management program using industry technology
  • Mentor and develop staff by working with manufactures to obtain industry standard certifications
  • Work with manufacturers to obtain updated diagnostic systems and software
  • Obtain all certifications required to maintain welding tools and conduct welding projects on site
  • Process payroll accurately for all staff.
  • Work effectively with executives, managers, vendors, and employees to provide excellent fleet maintenance service support.
