BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS

Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.

Primary Purpose

  • Under minimal supervision of the Terminal Manager, performs a variety of administrative and financial duties to support the Valero Terminal. The selected candidate will be a key contributor to the strategic goals of the business from an administrative capacity.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all monthly activities related to departmental budget, invoice reconciliation, expense forecasting and accrual tracking, and P-Card reconciliation.
  • Prepares purchase requisitions, maintains purchase orders, receives and reconciles invoices for payment.
  • Works within KM applications on a daily basis and assists all departments with word processing functions.
  • Prepares departmental correspondence, reports, records and other documents/forms as needed.
  • Assists KM Valero employees with timesheets, benefits, payroll, and general information inquiries, follow up and resolution. Serve as point of contact for some third-party contractors - janitorial, pest control, office rentals and equipment.
  • Establishes and maintains effective electronic and hardcopy filing systems.
  • Will support and serve on the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for the terminal.

Performs other assignments as required by the Terminal Manager (i.e. coordinating terminal events, ordering materials/supplies, special projects, etc.)

Education

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 3 or more years of administrative support experience. Associate's Degree preferred.

Experience/ Specific Knowledge

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) and ability to operate in a network computer environment by understanding the complexities of saving and accessing files and data on network drives and networks.
  • Experience working with department budgets, monthly forecasting and accruals.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Must obtain and / or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).

Competencies, Skills, And Abilities

  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
  • Exercise judgment and make decisions to promote smooth workflow in a team environment with changing demands to ensure that personnel needs are met.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism (white/blue collar employees, customers, vendors, contractors etc.)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including demonstrated spelling, grammar and compositions skills.

  • Balance competing and evolving administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • Has to be able to sit for long periods of time, step out of the office into a warehouse type environment.
  • Must be able to lift low weight packages.
