Build the supply chain for humanoid robots. At 1X, we’re designing intelligent, safe humanoid robots to address the world’s labor shortages—starting in the home and scaling globally. We design and build every part of our robots in-house, combining engineering, manufacturing, and AI under one roof.
At 1X you’ll build and scale global supply chains for next-generation humanoids—from high-torque actuators to precision magnetic assemblies—owning sourcing for the motors, gearboxes, and magnetics that power every move. Your work will directly enable the safe, reliable delivery of thousands of humanoids, solving some of the hardest problems in robotics.
What You’ll Do
- Define and execute end-to-end sourcing strategies for motors, gearboxes, magnets & related assemblies, including benchmarking and supplier performance management
- Identify, qualify & onboard global suppliers that meet cost, quality & delivery targets; negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms
- Partner with Engineering & Manufacturing on DFM reviews and technical sourcing decisions to ensure performance and quality specifications are met
- Drive cost-optimization & risk-mitigation through alternate sourcing, diversification, and continuous supplier improvement
- Manage supplier compliance via audits, performance metrics, and corrective-action programs
- Stay ahead of market trends by monitoring electromechanical technology developments, pricing shifts, and new entrants
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, and Finance to scale supply-chain capabilities and support overall business goals
What You Bring
- Proven experience in sourcing or procurement of motors, magnetics, or electromechanical components
- Deep technical understanding of motor and magnet design and manufacturing processes
- Strong negotiation skills and a track record of managing supplier relationships
- Experience conducting supplier audits and driving corrective actions
- Familiarity with ERP systems and sourcing tools (NetSuite a plus)
- Data-driven approach to problem-solving and cost analysis
- Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration experience
- Mandarin Chinese proficiency is a plus
Full-time, on-site in Hayward/Palo Alto, CA
$145–$222K + relocation + benefits
