THIS RECRUITMENT IS A SUPPLEMENTAL POSTING TO THE ORIGINAL RECRUITMENT.

Semiskilled work in the pruning and removal of ornamental and shade trees.
Work involves performing various semiskilled manual tasks in tree maintenance, including, but not limited to corrective pruning, transplanting, spraying, fertilizing and the removal of trees. Employees may work at considerable heights and are required to use ropes, rope saddles, pulleys and other tools of the trade. Assignments are received in the form of specific oral instructions, and work is performed under the close supervision of a supervisor, Arborist, Superintendent, Chief, or other designee.
Essential Functions
Climbs trees with the aid of a truck mounted ladder or occasionally using ropes, manual extension ladders, or rope saddles and removes dead, broken, crossover, and superfluous branches with a hand saw, pole saw, pole pruner, or other power trimming equipment.
Attaches ropes and pulleys to trees or branches which are to be cut or removed.
Trims trees for clearance of streetlights, street signs, and utility overhead construction.
Clears brush to improve visibility at street intersections.
Removes fallen trees and branches from traffic lanes.
Applies appropriate fertilizers and other nutritive elements to trees. Sprays trees with chemical agents to kill harmful insects, blights and parasites.
Removes rotted cavity from trunks of trees.
Uses stump grinders and other gas or electrically powered equipment in the removal trees.
Adheres to safety policies and proper use of personal protective and safety equipment.
Minimum Requirements
Performs other related work as required.
One (1) year of tree trimming experience.
A valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License (Class B or higher) is required at time of application and must be maintained valid throughout employment in the classification.
SPECIAL NOTES
As a condition of employment, the DMV records of those selected for hire must be submitted during the pre-employment process at the candidate's expense.
