The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Marketing and Engagement Coordinator in the Department of Economic Development.Â
As our Marketing and Engagement Coordinator you will assist the Senior Marketing Manager in overseeing and supporting marketing initiatives for key city-owned venues, tourism programs, and economic development sponsorships. This role focuses on driving engagement, creating value-added experiences for group bookings, managing marketing collateral, fostering partnerships with local businesses, and promoting internal awareness of city initiatives. The coordinator will also manage welcome and hospitality programs, assist with sponsorship contracting and activations, and ensure marketing efforts align with the city's overall economic development and tourism goals.

 As The Marketing And Engagement Coordinator, You Will
- Represent the department at events, trade shows, or community activations by staffing tables or booths, engaging with attendees, distributing marketing materials, and providing information about city programs, attractions, and initiatives.
- Manage relationships with vendors and contractors, including coordinating services, ensuring contract compliance, and overseeing timely delivery of products or services to support marketing, sponsorship, and engagement initiatives.
- Assist the Senior Marketing Manager in marketing and engagement efforts for key city venues, including Smart Financial Centre, Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land, and Constellation Field.
- Support and assist in executing tourism and economic development sponsorships, including contracting, activation, programming, and vendor coordination.
- Plan and execute supplemental activations for major group bookings, including welcome signage, badges, balloon arches, photo booths, shuttle services, receptions/dinners, and other value-added experiences to enhance guest engagement and drive return bookings.
- Engage with restaurants, hotels, and tourism partners to foster collaboration and networking opportunities.
- Develop, manage, and maintain marketing collateral including visitor guides, brochures, digital assets, and event materials, in collaboration with the graphic designer.
- Assist with internal engagement to promote awareness of city projects, sponsorships, and programs through NEO orientations, hospitality programs, and internal trainings.
- Support event and program logistics, including vendor management, on-site coordination, and post-event reporting.
- Track engagement metrics, sponsorship deliverables, and program outcomes to inform strategy and decision-making.
- Order and manage promotional swag and marketing materials to support engagement initiatives, sponsorship activations, and city events, ensuring alignment with brand standards and timely delivery.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align projects and enhance collaboration across city departments.
- Perform other duties or project assignments as required by the Senior Marketing Manager or Assistant Director of Tourism, Redevelopment, or Economic Development.
- A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, Tourism, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Economic Development, Public Administration or Public Management from an accredited school or university or equivalent experience.Â
- Minimum two years of practical experience in marketing, communications, economic development, municipal government, DMO/CVB, hospitality, or related field.
- Experience in sponsorship management, event activation, or visitor engagement preferred.
- Municipal experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Class C Texas Driver's LicenseÂ
