What We Are Looking For

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Lean Focus) leads the development and implementation of lean manufacturing systems and continuous improvement initiatives. The role is critical for driving efficiency, flexibility, and quality across all manufacturing operations. This engineer will leverage advanced lean methodologies (including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and Six Sigma) to optimize production processes, reduce waste, and uphold regulatory standards, ensuring Mustang Survival delivers high-quality products to market.

Responsibilities

Lead and champion lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to achieve operational excellence throughout the facility.

Develop, implement, and sustain value stream mapping, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement projects targeting efficiency, quality, and capacity.

Apply Six Sigma and root cause analysis tools for process troubleshooting, corrective action implementation, and reduction of defects.

Design, validate, and optimize manufacturing systems, equipment, fixtures, and processes for both new and existing products.

Generate and update manufacturing documentation including process flow charts, PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions, BOMs, and training resources.

Mentor and coach junior engineers and technicians in lean principles and best practices.

Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in manufacturing, quality, product development, supply chain, and finance.

Analyze performance metrics and process data; use findings to drive measurable improvements in productivity and product quality.

Support New Production Introduction (NPI) processes and oversee timely transition of new products to production lines.

Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards in all manufacturing operations.

Occasionally travel to support external partners or outsourcers during product launch or improvement initiatives.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (industrial, mechanical, mechatronics, or related field); advanced certifications in lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent preferred.

Minimum 8 years manufacturing engineering experience, with direct leadership in lean manufacturing environments and demonstrated success in major continuous improvement projects.

Proven expertise in 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, JIT, TPM, single-piece flow, Kanban, error-proofing (Poka Yoke), and standard work development.

Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and intermediate MS Office suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Strong technical writing and documentation skills (work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, SOPs).

Ability to interpret and produce mechanical drawings and electrical schematics; familiarity with garment or industrial sewing manufacturing asset.

Demonstrates hands-on approach, analytical thinking, and problem-solving with a track record of delivering improvements.

Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision and mentor others.

Lean Green Belt certification or higher strongly preferred; Six Sigma credentials and practice desirable.

Ability to travel occasionally as required by project needs.
