GENERAL SUMMARY: Reporting to the Access/Referral Management Supervisor or Manager, the Referral Coordinator II is responsible for efficiently processing referrals placed by referring providers, scheduling appointments with specialists, and ensuring seamless coordination of patient care. This role involves utilizing various technologies, processes, and metrics while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. Assists in setting up and refining new departmental processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery. Tracks metrics and creates a variety of access reports for use by clinical and administrative leadership. Reviews and analyzes patient access metrics, dashboards, or other reports and shares issues and learnings with departmental leadership. Communicates compliments, complaints, and feedback to supervisors for recognition or resolution. Facilitates clinical review of the referrals by the clinical team and ensures it is completed for certain conditions before scheduling. Escalates issues to senior leadership in a timely manner and performs follow up to seek solutions. Functions as a lead and resource for Referral Coordinator I staff in the department. Provides guidance and assistance with more complex situations. Demonstrates excellent judgment, flexibility, and a commitment to customer service, all while ensuring the efficient processing of referrals and maintaining effective relationships with patients, providers, and staff.

- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in registration and appointment scheduling in a healthcare setting.
- Two (2) years of experience in clinic appointment scheduling and working with electronic medical records (EMR), particularly EPIC.
- Customer service experience, with demonstrated professionalism in handling patient and provider interactions preferred.
- Previous experience working directly with providers is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong working knowledge of EPIC or similar electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.
