Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and build fire alarm team for North and South Carolina, working with existing management
- Provide direct supervision technically and developmentally for assigned employees. This includes HR functions, financial and technical training and mentoring, and day-to-day support to achieve better than estimated productivity on assigned projects.
- Provide input to sales and operations regarding the technical and business considerations for construction or direct owner projects. This input could be associated with areas such as estimating, timing, special resource needs, or other aspects peculiar to specific projects.
- Complete labor staffing worksheets and coordinates with other GOSs, GOMs, Sales, or Operations Managers to ensure appropriate staffing levels for both overall headcount as well as anticipated skill sets.
- Determine if customer expectations are similar to Climatec’s and if these can be achieved based upon Climatec’s estimate or contractual scope. Provides feedback on this as appropriate internally and externally.
- Ensure projects are booked correctly and that all necessary forms are completed for both internal and external purposes.
- Ensure that each assigned project has accurately forecasted costs for each area of the project and that these are tracked to achieve budget and forecast goals.
- Oversee material needs and timing to maximize cash flow and material efficiency.
- Manage assigned Installation Specialists or Field Mechanics in coordination with outside contractors to achieve the best cash flow and installation productivity on assigned projects.
- Complete the monthly WIP re-forecast and keeps necessary documentation to manage ongoing project or employee issues as they appear on the WIPs over time.
- Ensure that assigned projects are invoiced correctly and is involved in collections activities to minimize collections aging.
- Recommend technical solutions to sales and operations.
- Identify change order opportunities and coordinates with sales to document, pursue, and book them.
- Provide support to Climatec and other contractors to solve building operating issues that go beyond the controls or special systems operation.
- Communicate with internal employees as required to ensure Climatec labor is accurate and timely and estimated productivity is achieved in all areas.
- Provide leadership and input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
- Communicate with external organizations as required such as consulting engineers, building owners, and other contractors to ensure accurate and timely engineering.
- Review all engineered submittals insuring adherence to scope, budget, and customer expectations as well as location standards.
- Work with direct reports to assist them in their development of personal goals.
- Review these goals with direct reports throughout the year and provides annual reviews as well as administration of salaries for these direct reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school diploma. Other technical experience such as military, on the job training programs, etc. may meet this requirement as determined by local management.
- 2+ years of experience leading a team in the fire alarm business.
- An understanding of basic computer operating systems.
- The ability to configure and debug basic computer problems.
- Some experience with programming.
- A clear ability to work with electronic equipment such as volt meters, amp-meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
- The ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
- A working understanding of AC power circuitry including breakers, multi-phase power, etc. (120VAC and greater)
- Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- An ability to understand empathetically the issues and perceptions others have and to creatively and successfully work through these issues to achieve a successful outcome and customer and employee satisfaction.
- A basic understanding of HVAC operations within a facility.
- A thorough understanding of NFPA and other related fire and life safety codes.
- An ability to work with assigned employees to motivate and develop them and ensure their success.
- A strong business and financial awareness and the ability to apply these to a portfolio of projects to maximize cash flow, profits, and customer and employee satisfaction
- Construction Management, or other related studies.
- An understanding of, or the willingness to quickly adopt Climatec’s leadership culture and values.
- 7+ years of experience leading a team in the fire alarm business.
- Be able to lift and carry, drawings, personal computers, material, and spend significant time sitting etc.
- Be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Be able to spend significant time standing and walking.
- Be able to climb flights of stairs throughout a typical day.
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Climatec’s vehicle policy, if driving a company vehicle or participating in an auto allowance program.
