The Finance and Planning team is tasked with providing financial analysis to facilitate effective decision making, managing the planning and forecasting work that guide the business, and serving as the key liaison between the business and corporate financial functions. In pursuit of these goals, the team must interact and collaborate regularly with a diverse set of stakeholders across the organization. The team strives to be a sought-after business partner within the company and is heavily focused on people development.

This is a leadership role with direct oversight and responsibility for the finance and planning function in the Willamette Valley & South Oregon Regions, which encompasses roughly 1.2 million acres. The role will report directly to the Western Timberlands Sr. Manager of Finance and Planning.

The position has joint accountability with regional leadership for the financial performance of the regions and is expected to develop strong partnerships with the Region Managers.

This position is based out of Eugene, Oregon in a hybrid office and remote work environment. Typically, the role is expected to be in office 3 days per week. There will be occasional overnight travel required for meetings (~20%).

Key Functions Include

  • Leadership of regional budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes; maintenance of planning and forecast information in the company’s ERP system
  • Analysis of monthly financial results, including detailed variance review; works closely with the regional lead teams to ensure efficient execution on commitments. Provide regular communication on progress towards budget and develop plans to course correct when necessary
  • Provision of ad hoc financial analysis to Finance and regional leadership as needed, including but not limited to scenario modeling, capital budgeting, and financial due diligence
  • Provide analytical support to functional teams – forestry, transportation, harvesting and roads engineering
  • Ensure budgeting and accounting treatment within the regions are aligned with corporate direction
  • Oversight of compliance to internal controls and acts as a point of contact for Internal Audit
  • Additionally, the role will have supervisory accountability over the Finance and Planning function for the Oregon Regions. A successful candidate will be expected to provide coaching and development of 3 direct reports within these regions. Given the dynamic nature of the team, this role may be asked, on occasion to provide “flow to work” support across the West, while supporting and/or leading business-wide initiatives

  • BA/BS in Finance, Forestry or related discipline; MBA or MA/MS preferred
  • 5+ years of Finance, Forestry or related business experience or a combination of experience and graduate degree
  • Strong financial, analytical and technical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and organize tasks to create efficient workflow
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in both written and verbal forms
  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to work across diverse teams of people

What We Offer

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $106,900-$160,400 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 15% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours and paid parental leave for all full-time employees.
