To qualify for employment, the following two (2) items must be attached to a completed online application: 1A. Proof of valid Credential/Permit - (A Valid Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit or A Valid California Teaching Credential) OR 1B.A Copy of Unofficial Transcripts (ONLY for applicants that are in need of support in obtaining a Substitute Teaching Permit) AND 2.Updated Resume PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT (At Employee Cost, if selected to move forward): - TB Clearance (Valid if done within last 3 years) - Fingerprinting - Official Transcripts Qualifications for an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit:
- Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university (Bachelor’s degree or higher applicants do not need to provide basic skill requirements for a substitute teaching permit.) Qualifications for an Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit for Prospective Teachers:
- Completion of at least 90 semester units from a regionally accredited four-year college or university
- Current enrollment in a four-year college or university (verification letter required)
- Passing CBEST scores or meet Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) First time substitute teachers who qualify for a permit should consider recommendation by an employer to expedite the process. Upon hire, the district will assist with the Substitute Teaching Permit application process. Work Experience & Application Disclosure Requirement (AB2534): A detailed record of ALL work experience is required in all necessary fields, specifically disclosing any experience working within a school district/county office of education/charter school or state special school.
- Proof of valid Credential/Permit - Copy of valid credential certificate or proof of valid document issuance from educator profile on CTC Website. (verification will be processed upon hire)
- Unofficial Transcript(s): For application purposes, unofficial copies are accepted to confirm eligibility. Unofficial transcripts MUST show completion of a minimum of 90 semester units of course work from an acceptable regionally accredited four-year college or university OR awarded Bachelors Degree. - If a transcript shows units transferred from another institution, the letter verifying enrollment must specify the number of units transferred that were accepted toward completion of a bachelor’s degree.
- Enrollment Verification Letter: If pursuing an Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit for Prospective Teachers, your current enrollment must be verified by an official letter from 4-year California college/university registrar.
- CBEST/BSR: This is a Basic Skills Requirement for the undergraduate. If you have not taken or passed the CBEST, you may satisfy the requirement with alternative options. Long Term Resident Substitute Teacher Assignment Long-Term Rate of Pay $260/Full Day Long Term Substitute Teacher and Vacancy Assignment Long-Term Rate of Pay 16+ Days or more in same assignment retroactive to first day. $130/Half Day $260/Full Day Day-to-Day Substitute Teacher Assignment Three Tier Short-Term Rate of Pay 1-25 Days: $100/Half Day $200/Full Day 26-50 Days: $110/Half Day $220/Full Day 51+ Days: $115/Half Day $230/Full Day Substitute Teachers who reach 25 days by June 30th will continue to progress at these levels for subsequent years.
