Job Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading tie plates from the plate truck.
- Positioning tie plates correctly on railroad ties.
- Assisting with track construction or repair tasks (e.g., aligning rails, driving spikes).
- Operating or assisting with machinery like plate-laying equipment or hydraulic tools.
- Performing safety checks and following railroad safety regulations.
Required Skills:
- Physical strength and stamina (heavy lifting and long hours outdoors).
- Able to lift 50lbs
- CDL B License
- Ability to work as part of a crew.
- Familiarity with hand tools and basic mechanical equipment.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and potentially remote locations.
- Often outdoors in remote or rugged environments.
- Long shifts, sometimes including nights, weekends, or holidays.
- Potential for travel, especially for railroads with large territories.
