Job Summary: Position is A Needed

Performs skilled tasks, inspection, preventive maintenance & repairs on a broad variety of domestic, commercial, & specialized equipment, including in the following areas: HVAC, control equipment, chilled water, boiler, steam systems; Plumbing systems, pipefitting, backflow preventer maintenance, domestic hot and cold water, sewer; Electrical, electronic equipment, distribution systems supporting pieces of electrical and mechanical equipment used in the operation of the hospital; Fire safety systems; and/or Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines. General technical skills: Performs basic tasks on electrical systems, fire safety systems, HVAC systems, mechanical and plumbing systems, architectural systems, & nurse call and pneumatic tube systems. Architectural systems may include, but are not limited to interior and exterior doors (including rated doors), ceiling and wall systems. General tasks may include minor issues on the patient beds and TVs. General tasks include shop cleanup and general maintenance and upkeep. Works independently, as well as with a team & takes initiative. Provides mentoring & training for lesser skilled technicians. Helps maintain departmental compliance with governmental standards with documentation & with computerized maintenance management systems. Maintains a clean, neat & safe work environment.

Qualifications

Vocational - Technical Degree in Associates Degree in HVAC Refrigeration Mechanics, Industrial Systems Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Industrial Electrical Technology, or other related course of study, in lieu of degree; Type II EPA Refrigerant Transition HVAC Refrigeration Mechanics, Industrial Systems Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Industrial Electrical Technology, or other related course of study, in lieu of degree; Type II EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification or greater or Master Electrician is acceptable (Required)n and Recovery Certification or greater or Master Electrician is acceptable (Required)

Associate Degree in HVAC Refrigeration Mechanics, Industrial Systems Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Industrial Electrical Technology, or other related course of study, in lieu of degree; Type II EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification or greater or Master Electrician is acceptable (Required)

Work Experience

  • 5 years Electrical repair, HVAC, Plumbing, and/or Mechanical maintenance, installation and or contracting required
  • 5 years healthcare or hospital facility maintenance setting required.

Certifications And Licensures

  • Type II EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification or greater, Master Electrician - Required

Essential Functions

GENERAL FACILITY TECHNICIAN TASKS:

  • As part of general maintenance duties and rotational watch assignments, may perform a variety of general semiskilled maintenance, alteration and repairs to machinery, equipment, or facilities.
  • Inspects equipment and facilities for proper operation and condition
  • Routine and minor electrical maintenance or replacement of bulbs, circuit wiring, switches, control equipment and mechanisms, motors, transformers, relays, generators, appliances, fixtures, alarms, communication equipment, etc.
  • General maintenance services such as repairing interior finishes, moving materials or equipment, etc.
  • Keeps work areas orderly, clean and safe. Assures proper care in use of tools, equipment and supplies.

General Tasks For All Facility Technical Staff

  • During assigned rotational shifts, may perform or may assist trained personnel in a variety of general semi-skilled maintenance, alteration and repairs to machinery, equipment, or facilities as assigned or in accordance with basic skills and abilities standard procedures, diagrams or manufacturer's instructions.
  • Inspects facilities for proper condition; maintains routine records and determines type and extent of damage, as necessary, adjusts, disassembles and repairs or replaces parts or components, reassembles and tests for proper operation. Reports more serious problems to immediate supervisor for instructions or maintenance scheduling.
  • Routine and minor electrical maintenance or replacement of bulbs, circuit wiring, switches, control equipment and mechanisms, motors, transformers, relays, generators, appliances, fixtures, alarms, communication equipment, etc.
  • General mechanical maintenance of hospital and clinic equipment, office machines and equipment, etc. Normally excludes specialized and highly technical equipment requiring training, experience, and testing equipment.
  • General plumbing maintenance including the maintenance and minor repairs to steam, gas, water, air and sanitary systems. Also may include the repair and replacement of valves, the repair of leaks, and clearing of drain stoppages.
  • General maintenance services such as moving material or equipment, etc.

  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.

For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.

Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.

  • Must have working knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair responsibilities related to equipment and buildings in a healthcare environment.
  • Must be able to work with principles and mathematical formulae associated with applicable trade(s).
