We are seeking Director of Engineering (Hybrid; based in Elgin, Illinois) to be responsible for driving innovation and new product development in our Custom Cable Assembly Solutions line, as well as leading the Engineering Team and implementing process improvements. This person will provide strategic input to the technical direction of the business unit, plan and direct all aspects of technical support, and oversee engineering and project management activities in order to support revenue growth & profitability while delivering exceptional customer service. The Director of Engineering will ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformity with HARTING’s established policies and objectives and drives continuous improvement.
HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to HARTING customers and positions itself as the go-to source expert for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard product, designed-in value-added products, and Product Development initiatives. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer - Americas, with a dotted line to the General Manager of Quality & Technologies, the Vice President of IMS will be key to reaching our growth targets.

- Work with the heads of key business units to develop strategic goals for the Engineering department, which aligns with our overall corporate strategy.
- Participate in the planning of HARTING’s long-term technology and customized solutions growth strategy.
- Lead and implement engineering process improvements and best-in-class engineering tools to improve new product development quality and pace.
- Establish, monitor and improve relevant key performance indicators to drive innovation and new product development performance.
- Lead the resolution of critical customer and/or product issues through root cause analysis.
- Build and lead a highly effective team and coach, mentor and develop high-performing engineering talent capable of excelling within a dynamic, fast-growing organization.
- Effectively and efficiently allocate engineering resources and skill sets to ensure all projects are completed per plan and meet technical, cost, quality and schedule requirements.
- Organize and manage customer projects for new technologies and customized solutions, making detailed plans, ensuring clear definition, and effectively communicating project scope and deliverables to the Operations, Quality and Supply chain teams.
- Responsible for the maintenance, archiving, confidentiality and security of the Company's engineering documentation and engineering employee work product.
- Builds and leverages strong relationships and networks across the organization both internally and with suppliers & customers.
- Periodic travel will be required to support customers, sales team, distribution partners and HARTING’s manufacturer representatives.
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or technical related field
- 10+ years related experience in Engineering, Product or Project Management role
- Prior management experience required

Compensation
- HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage.
- Competitive base salary: $200,000 - $220,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location)
- This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal and company performance.
