Job Description

The Eastern Regional Office (ERO) of Land of Lincoln Legal Aid (LOLLA) seeks a Paralegal to support our criminal records relief work. Each year, thousands of Illinois residents face barriers to employment, housing, education, and stability due to past involvement in the criminal legal system—even after completing their sentence or having charges dismissed. Criminal records relief provides a second chance by removing these barriers and opening doors to opportunity.

The ERO conducts several summits and clinics each year to address criminal records. The paralegal will play a key role in planning these events and handling the legal work, under an attorney’s supervision, to determine a participant’s eligibility and draft pleadings for such relief. We partner with volunteer students to assist clients and the paralegal will be involved with recruiting and supporting those student volunteers.

LOLLA provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals in 65 counties in Illinois. We are committed to providing justice for those whose voices might otherwise not be heard; to empower individuals to advocate for themselves; and to make positive changes in the communities we serve.
