Starting Pay - $36.41 - $45.51 (based on experience)

Position is eligible for a $5,000 starting bonus

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of respiratory therapy
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registered by the State of Minnesota (CRT Licensure)
  • Three years previous experience within a critical care/ED environment preferred

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides respiratory care to patients at the hospital:
  • Ventilator
  • Bipap/Cpap
  • Incentive spirometry
  • Aerosol/MDI treatments
  • NT suctioning
  • ET suctioning
  • CPT/PEP therapy
  • Monitors patient’s physiological response to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial, and venous blood gases. Consults with the hospitalist if adverse reactions occur.
  • Works as a team in a multidisciplinary environment to provide care and provide recommendations for appropriate therapy.
  • Assists with monitoring the central station for end tidal CO2 and SPO2 of patients.
  • Educates patients and families about their conditions and teaches appropriate disease management techniques.
  • Works with patients and families to set up home oxygen therapy.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Responds to all rapid response and codes called within the hospital with appropriate equipment.
  • Monitors respiratory supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Monitors EHR for accurate charging of respiratory related supplies, equipment, and oxygen use.
  • Monitors compliance for charting incentive spirometry for all healthcare personnel.
  • Makes rounds within the hospital departments to assess any future patient respiratory care needs, communicates with charge nurses and house supervisors.
  • Checks respiratory equipment and supplies for availability and outdates.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of respiratory policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Monitors respiratory supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Monitors EHR for accurate charging of respiratory related supplies, equipment, and oxygen use.
  • Monitors compliance for charting incentive spirometry for all healthcare personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
