We are seeking a Senior Manager of R&D to join our team working directly with the CEO and senior team and focusing on Product Development. This role is part of the team that services the entire Endeavour ecosystem and contributes to the overall health and success of the organization.

The Senior Manager of R&D needs to be agile, professional, and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment. The right person is trustworthy with confidential information, highly organized, self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, can think strategically, and works equally as well independently as with a team.

Key Responsibilities

Including, But Not Limited To

  • Direct all research and development of new carbon-based building materials for TAF Carbon
  • Design and execute research plans to achieve desired material product profiles
  • Identify and/or onboard new chemical and material science innovations to improve material properties and/or develop new products
  • Directly supervise outside research partners to achieve corporate product development goals
  • Build internal team and equipment resources in line with corporate growth plans
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing partners in cooperation with company leadership to achieve product scale-up and manufacturing goals
  • Interface closely with research partners and intellectual property counsel to protect product innovations
  • Communicate and collaborate with other Endeavour companies to share innovation and move products forward to commercial success across the Endeavour ecosystem
  • Hands-on material testing, technical problem solving, data collection and calculations as needed
  • Lead and grow the R&D team by modeling a corporate culture of demanding excellence, scientific rigor and daily irreverence to big company corporate culture
  • Other duties as self and team assigned

Skills & Requirements

Education / Experience

  • PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science
  • 4+ years technical project management experience required, 2+ years commercial technical project management preferred

Specific Skills / Abilities

  • Scientific problem solving at the molecular level with a focus on organic chemistry
  • Technical team building
  • Project management of diverse technical teams remotely and in person
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing goals and diverse work and team environments as needed
  • Design of experiments from approach to product development
  • Excellent statistical rigor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical subjects and challenges to non-technical staff and corporate partners
  • Strong hands on lab skills and problem solving that includes but is not limited to: furnace safety and set-up, atmosphere control with multiple gasses, safe and experienced power and hand tool user
  • Material analytic testing experience including development of new protocols as needed
  • Safe lab set-up and chemical handling experience required
  • SEM, TEM, XRD, TGA, DSC, XKCD and other interpretation skills required

Position: Senior Manager of R&D

Full-Time or Part-Time: Full-Time

Reports to: CEO of TAF Carbon

Location: Syracuse, NY with 1 week a month weekday travel (domestic US and internationally)

This is the expected annual base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.

Base Salary Range: $130,000 USD - $150,000 USD
