Emergency Room RN Job Details
- Location: Madison, WI – a vibrant city known for its outdoor recreation, thriving food scene, and welcoming neighborhoods
- Position: Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
- Employment Type: Travel Contract
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 11/3/2025 – End: 2/2/2026)
- Shifts: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30); occasional 8-hour shifts (15:00 – 03:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend & Holiday Rotation: Required
- Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Unit: Emergency Medicine (58-bed department)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2130-$2190
- Active WI Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience with both adult and pediatric patients
- Prior travel nurse experience required
- Experience in a large hospital or similar healthcare setting required
- Epic charting experience required (preferred within last 12 months)
- Basic Arrhythmia experience; must pass Telemetry test before start date
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS (American Heart Association only), and TNCC certifications required
- Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Perform diagnostic interventions, cardiac catheterization, Level I trauma care, acute stroke care, burn care, and ECMO/ECPR procedures
- Coordinate patient care with ground ambulances and Med Flight for critically ill or injured patients
- Float to other units or locations within the healthcare organization as needed
- Manage emergency situations including trauma, cardiac events, respiratory distress, psychiatric emergencies, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Utilize Epic electronic health record system for documentation and care coordination
- Participate in required weekend and holiday rotations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
