Summary

Phoenix-based SRP is recruiting for an Intern - OT Network Security. As an intern on the OT Network Security (OTNS) team, you will support efforts to secure and maintain operational technology environments that are critical to infrastructure operations. This role offers hands-on experience in a regulated, high-impact setting, with exposure to core network security practices and cross-functional collaboration.

The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.

What You'll Do

  • Learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment focused on protecting critical systems.
  • Assist with network documentation, asset tracking, and inventory updates.
  • Support firewall change management by logging rule updates and ensuring compliance with internal processes.
  • Participate in firewall rule analysis and cleanup initiatives to improve rule efficiency and audit readiness.
  • Help maintain and monitor certificate inventories, track expiration timelines, and support renewal processes.
  • Contribute to procedure development and documentation to support internal customers and operational consistency.
  • Assist in assurance, risk, and compliance activities such as facilitating assessments and managing exceptions
  • Perform routine network support tasks such as device configuration tracking and light monitoring duties.
  • Gain exposure to identity governance, data visibility platforms, and endpoint protection tools.
  • Understand how cross-functional teams collaborate to secure and maintain OT environments.
  • Some travel between facilities may be required; the primary office is in South Scottsdale

Experience

Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., IP addressing, routing, switching).

  • Familiarity with network security principles and common security controls.
  • Awareness of operational technology (OT) environments and their role in critical infrastructure.
  • Exposure to or coursework in identity governance, endpoint protection, or data visibility platforms.
  • Understanding of SSL/PKI certificate concepts and lifecycle management.

Required

  • Must have driver's license and ability to travel between valley locations

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
