The Cooperative Offers a Competitive Benefit Package
The Health Educator develops collaborative relationships with Maternal Child Health providers, Community Based Organizations and local health departments to assess community educational needs and resources. The Health Educator will design and conduct client and community education programs and coordinates health education training for outreach staff. Responsible for working with outreach case management staff to determine appropriate target audiences and opportunities for educational activities in areas such as preterm labor, family planning, immunizations, lead poisoning prevention, dental health and others cited by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
Essential Functions
Contribute to The Cooperative’s commitment to equity and continuous quality improvement that aligns with the agency’s mission, goals, and advancement. * Effectively cross-collaborate with agency staff, leaders, and board members to foster a comprehensive approach of information sharing, working committees, and collective representation. * Routinely disseminate relevant information, presentations, training, and learning opportunities for internal program and agency staff. * When applicable, will participate in relevant staff development opportunities (trainings, summits, conferences, etc.) to increase skill development, elevate program goals, and engage staff members with timely key learnings. * Designs and facilitates appropriate community/client health education programs and activities * Works with outreach and case management staff to determine appropriate target audiences and opportunities for educational activities * Develops collaborative relationships with maternal child health (MCH) providers, CBOs and local health departments to assess community educational needs and resources * Identifies and maintains culturally appropriate consumer health education resources * Assesses staff training needs related to client education in areas such as preterm labor, family planning, immunizations, lead poisoning prevention, dental health and others cited by HRSA; plans ongoing training as indicated * Assists in development and maintenance of accurate evaluation measures for all educational efforts * Provides guidance to staff concerning culturally appropriate consumer health education materials, methods, and activities. * Assesses and maintains updated trainings and health education resource information including a local speakers bureau * Attends Community Consortium (CAN) and other meetings as assigned * Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education, Health Sciences, Social Work, Nursing, or related field
- Knowledge of health education theories for behavior change, health education strategies, and general knowledge about MCH topics a plus
- Ability to develop and implement curriculum and conduct training programs
- Facilitation experience and presentation skills a plus
- Knowledge of health education and community resources
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Good organizational skills: ability to prioritize workload requirements
- Ability to work well with a variety of individuals and clients from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of cultural diversity and cultural competency issues related to health education
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license, car, and current insurance policy
- Must be able to see to read documents and hear well enough to communicate with others
- Must be able to write, type on a computer, and use a telephone
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
- Additional requirements to be determined with input from Director and HR
