The Manager, Sourcing and Contracting leads and mentors the Sourcing and Contracting team while aligning supply chain priorities with organizational goals. The role oversees end-to-end procurement activities, including sourcing, contracting, strategic planning, and negotiations. The Manager involves analyzing spending trends, market dynamics, and competition to develop strategic category plans that enhance procurement efficiency, prioritize initiatives, and maximize organizational impact. The position supports clinical, research, operational, and broader organizational objectives through effective supply chain management.
- Team Leadership: Oversees a team of Sourcing and Contracting staff. Hires, develops, and manages staff to achieve organizational goals. Sets clear expectations, delivers feedback, and monitors performance for quality, efficiency, and compliance with policies and procedures. Mentors staff, fosters career growth, and cultivates a positive and productive work environment.
- Strategic Sourcing and Spend Management: Identifies, leads, and executes spend category and supply strategies that leverage organizational requirements, maximize supplier opportunities, and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). Evaluates spending and vendors to implement strategic sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, and category management activities that align with business priorities and mitigate supple chain risks.
- Supplier and Market Analysis: Analyzes supplier proposals and market opportunities using quantitative and qualitative methods to ensure competitive advantage. Continuously monitors market and industry data to keep programs competitive and aligned with organizational goals, including sustainability and diversity.
- Contract Management and Legal Collaboration: Collaborates with legal, risk, IT, finance, and other business functions to review, negotiate, and execute contracts, including amendments, renewals, and terminations. Coordinates the contracting process to ensure agreements meet organizational needs and compliance requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Facilitates cross-organizational communication and stakeholder engagement, delegating tasks effectively to drive initiatives to completion. Provides periodic updates and progress reports to leadership, ensuring alignment with business objectives and priorities.
- Process Improvement and Operations Efficiency: Implements process improvements to increase operational efficiency, ensure data accuracy, and enhance the customer experience. Leverages tools, applications, and process teams to optimize operational transactions, reduce administrative costs, and improve accountability and controls.
- Supplier Relationship and GPO Alignment: Manages supplier relationships and competitive bidding events, including RFIs, RFPs, and auctions, to optimize opportunities. Works with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) as needed to align supply strategies with organizational goals and ensure supplier base consistency with corporate responsibility initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years of related experience in sourcing and contracting.
- Experience in sourcing, negotiating, contracting, analysis, project management and leading an area in implementing new supplier agreements/programs.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing, negotiating, contracting, analysis, project management, and leading an area in implementing new supplier agreements/programs.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong written and spoken interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications and systems, including Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and PowerPoint), procurement systems (PeopleSoft, Workday, Workday Strategic Sourcing, Evisort, RFX/Auctioning technology), supply analytics and spend management tools, GHX, Prodigo, ECRI, Dun & Bradstreet, etc.
