Department Financial Aid Job Purpose

Provide the delivery of financial assistance to new and continuing applicants.

Essential Duties

  • Review and award financial aid packages for designated cohorts compliant with federal, state and institutional policies and guidelines
  • Assist with the administration and disbursement of Federal Pell Grants
  • Assist with the administration and disbursement of PA State Grants & Special Programs and other PA agencies providing student educational assistance
  • Assist with the administration of the Federal Work-Study program, including awarding eligibility, assisting students with placement, monitoring earnings, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations
  • Counsel prospective, new, current students and parents in person and in group settings concerning application, eligibility, status, and awarding of financial aid and financing programs as well as general inquiries
  • Resolve Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), application problems and resolution of edit messages, including citizenship and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)

Additional Skills Required

  • Maintain knowledge and proficiency with technological skills required for performance

of general and program specific duties used for the administration of financial aid, including but not limited to knowledge and proficiency of federal, state and institutional aid programs

  • Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Familiarity with relational databases and other recruitment systems, Banner preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must maintain highest levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to uphold human dignity and respect by recognizing each person’s worth, valuing diverse perspectives, and treating others with kindness, fairness, and empathy
  • Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
