Merchants Insurance Group is a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast and is looking for a Product Analyst for our Corporate Product Management team to join our Corporate Headquarters located in Buffalo, New York.

The Product Analyst will become part of a dedicated commercial lines product team focusing on providing analytical support to the Staff Underwriting and Commercial Product departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports Product Managers and Staff Underwriters in the management of the assigned line of business (or businesses) by querying and organizing data, building reports and scorecards, analyzing results, monitoring activity, identifying and implementing corrective underwriting actions and development of new products and enhancements to achieve corporate loss ratio and production goals.
  • Works with Product Managers and Actuarial staff to manage the rate review process for the assigned lines of business to assure compliance with all state requirements and timely implementation and communication of rate and/or product changes.
  • Develops standardized reports, scorecards, dashboards, and other analytical tools.
  • Acts as project lead or team participant on projects involving product, underwriting or reporting system updates.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified candidates will have a 4-year degree or equivalent work-related experience.
  • 1 - 3 years analytical experience required, preferably in property and casualty insurance.
  • General programming and/or database skills; excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge as well as the ability to work with internal company systems (WINS, ImageRight etc.).
  • Exceptional organization, verbal and written communication skills are highly desirable.
  • The ability to excel in a team environment.

Merchants Insurance Group offers a competitive pay scale. Merchants Insurance Group offers a competitive pay scale. The estimated salary for this role ranges from $60,000 - $80,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package. This range is merely an estimate; actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience and qualifications.
