Position Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Family Nurse Practitioner provides primary care medical services to provide the highest quality of health services to clients in accordance with agency policies and procedures

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing direct primary care to patients including history taking, physical exam, diagnosis and treatment.
  • Perform Comprehensive physical assessments of patients as needed
  • Establish medical diagnosis for common short-term or chronic stable health problems
  • Order, perform and interpret laboratory test including diagnostic and invasive procedures.
  • Prescribe medicine as necessary and appropriate in accordance with states and federal laws
  • Perform therapeutic and corrective measures - patient education, cleaning and dressing of superficial wounds, splinting and irrigation of eyes and ears.
  • Conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation as necessary until emergency vehicles arrive.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, manage and treat common acute and chronic conditions, seeking consultation as deems necessary
  • Collaborate with physician in establishing and reviewing drug and other medical guidelines. Review of guidelines will be done in a continuing manner but no less frequently than annually.
  • Assess and discuss medical and nursing diagnoses including therapeutic or corrective measures employed in a continuing manner when the dual management method of care is employed. The NP and physician will review and discuss patient care management no less than monthly.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Ensure the completion of all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)

Requires a Master’s degree in Nursing and a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in outpatient primary care setting (excluding specialty, quick care, or urgent care environments). Must demonstrate applied knowledge of medical and nursing terminology, as well as current nursing practices and procedures, or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires at a minimum Advanced Practice license in state of Wisconsin.
