Description
Our Network Operations team works around the clock running United’s global operation, safely, reliably and efficiently. From dispatching and routing our fleet to coordinating with maintenance line planning and crew scheduling, this team makes caring connections with our internal customers and ultimately, United’s customers. From pushback to landing, the Network Operations team is the eyes and ears on the ground no matter where in the world your United flight takes you
Job Overview And Responsibilities
The Aeronautical Services Coordinator is a multi-function position that may be required to master all skills below or assigned a specific function as a subject matter expert. The Aeronautical Services Coordinator acts as the central support for the coordination and resolution of all operational support functions and irregularities concerning Dispatch and Network Operations Control (NOC). It is the control function for the airlines’ operational navigation data. The operational navigation data is used in the Flight Planning systems and onboard aircraft flight management computers.

The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.

The Aeronautical Services Coordinator acts as the central support for the coordination and resolution of all operational support functions and irregularities concerning Dispatch and Network Operations Control (NOC). - Analyzes and disseminates regulatory Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) information concerning the status of airports, airspace, and air traffic procedures to dispatch and flight crews to ensure safe operations
- Reviews all applicable Airport Facility Directories (AFDs) and Aeronautical Information Publications (AIPs) for all primary and alternate airfields
- Contacts off-line stations for Prior Permission Required (PPR) and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) requirements/upgrades
- Maintains library of AIP manuals from all countries around the world and ensures all relevant aviation-specific regulatory material is incorporated into company operations and disseminates as necessary
- Collects and analyzes regulatory and technical data critical to flight and ensures flight planning and flight management computers are in compliance with U.S. and foreign regulations
- Reviews new flight schedules to ensure flight planning requirements are satisfied
- Develops and maintains flight planning navigation databases to ensure safe and efficient airline operations
- Develops data used in aircraft flight management computers and ensures data consistency with the flight planning navigation databases
- Maintains, updates and monitors currency of the FAA approved industry leading airport database containing all relevant contact information, airport authorizations and diversion planning material for United Airlines
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- High school diploma, GED or education equivalent
- Airline operations experience
- Some completion of FAA Aircraft Dispatcher coursework
- Knowledge of airline schedules and navigation database
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to make sound decisions
- Accuracy, detail-oriented and good judgment
- Ability to work any shift in a 24-hour operation
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical/Aviation-related major
- FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification
- Pilot's License
- 2 years’ flight dispatch or airline station operations experience
- Route/Database analysis
- Flight planning programs/tools
