What Your Day Looks Like

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Director role at the Wegner Food Group is a unique opportunity to join and lead the strategic direction for one of the fastest-growing, all-natural protein and cooked meat companies in the US. This role will specifically lead our efforts to expand in the byproducts and pet space and solidify our position as the top producer of organic and specialty protein products in the US. As a member of our core leadership team, you will work closely with all stakeholders to create, implement, and maintain our long-term strategic direction. We are looking for a strong team player who can think creatively, build winning strategies, and lead with autonomy while developing relationships that support a winning culture.

Essential Job Functions

  • Commercial Strategy: Design and implement a strategic business plan that generates value.
    • Direct compiling and evaluating research on market product requirements and identifying enhancements to current features and functionality.
    • Lead in the development of competitor analyses through category management data and pricing strategies.
  • P&L Management
    • Create customer material budgets for volume and revenue on an annual basis
    • Evaluate pricing, cost and volume opportunities that align with the commercial strategy and support consistent P&L performance.
  • Product Portfolio Optimization and Life Cycle Management
    • Identify emerging markets and market shifts and be able to act with a sense of urgency where applicable.
    • Lead in SKU optimization, item profitability analysis and build the optimal portfolio to meet customer needs including retail, food service and industrial.
  • Team and Cross Functional Alignment and Execution
    • Develop plans to lead a team of experienced professionals that include goal setting, coaching, and performance monitoring.
    • Collaborate with the scheduling team and sales team to bring accurate forecasting back through the supply chain and profitably grow our segments.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to improve efficiency, execution and costs while maintaining high standards for our customers.
  • Culture Creator- actively engage with organizational leadership to build a strong, sustainable culture that positions Plainville Farms as the partner of choice for employees, growers, vendors, and customers.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Education & Experience

  • BS/MS degree in business administration, management, or a related field
  • Six or more years of experience in business management, marketing, sales, operations, supply chain or a similar role leading cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • 15% travel
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Proven ability to create a strategy, manage projects and bring innovative solutions to customers
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, developing, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Flexibility to changing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
