Under supervision, the Laboratory Associate will perform operational level work with complex tasks in research laboratory. The focus of the position will be to assist students and postdoctoral students with research experiments. This position will also assist with general mouse colony maintenance, help order and organize supplies, maintain equipment, manage files & documents. Other duties assigned as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Annual Full Pay Range: $45,999 - $54,079 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $22.03 - $25.90
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Enthusiasm for learning and genuine interest in scientific research. Ability to learn new skills, research methods, and scientific principles. Ability to take direction, be detail-oriented and follow step-wise instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively on a research project. Ability to maintain a high level of motivation to contribute to cutting edge research, and seek and learn new experimental methods as required.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in matters related to work.
- Demonstrated experience and skill with MS Office programs, file-making, spreadsheet, and graphics software; willingness and ability to update and increase PC skills and knowledge as needed.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills including ability to keep clear and accurate records, organize a varied workload, and give oral presentations on the progress of research.
- Demonstrated successful, positive interpersonal oral and written communication skills using tact, diplomacy, discretion, and flexibility with diverse personalities and situations. Skill to interact effectively with faculty, academics, students, and staff including those of diverse ethnicity, culture, and foreign nationals.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and techniques. Skill, ability and willingness to learn new laboratory techniques and use of new lab equipment rapidly and as needed.
- Mouse colony management, lab techniques such as RT-PCR, cell culture, flow cytometry
