Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Endoscopy department provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. The RN collaborates with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care before, during, and after procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures by conducting pre-procedure assessments and obtaining relevant medical history.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition throughout the procedure.
  • Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by managing instruments and providing necessary support.
  • Administer medications and sedation as ordered, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Educate patients and families regarding the procedure, post-procedure care, and any necessary follow-up.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols.
  • Document patient care, observations, and procedural details accurately and timely in the electronic medical record system.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to patient emergencies or adverse reactions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in endoscopy or a related clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of endoscopic procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to administer sedation and monitor patient responses safely.
  • Strong communication and patient education skills.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing (CGRN) or related specialty.
  • Experience with sedation administration and recovery care.
  • Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.

Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license (mandatory).
  • ACLS certification (preferred).
  • CGRN certification (preferred).

Certification: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
