Description

The Professional Scout will play a key role in supporting the organization’s player evaluation and acquisition efforts. This individual will conduct comprehensive assessments of professional players across the United States and internationally, utilizing a combination of in-person evaluations, video analysis, and data-driven insights. The role will involve close collaboration with the Baseball Analytics and Baseball Operations departments to inform organizational decision-making.

This position is benefit-eligible including: medical, dental and vision insurance, 401K eligibility; employee contributions after 3 months, employer matching and safe harbor after 1 year and 1000 hours of employment and additional perks not listed above. The expected salary for this position can range from $80,000-$100,000. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed written scouting reports on professional players through live evaluations, video, and data.
  • Track and analyze roster activity across other professional organizations, maintaining up-to-date prospect lists, depth charts, and preference rankings.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with coaches, front office personnel, and field staff.
  • Provide thorough analysis on potential acquisitions, including upcoming free agents, Rule 5–eligible players, and other key markets.
  • Collaborate with the Baseball Operations group to monitor player performance trends and team developments.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and insights to enhance departmental processes and organizational strategy.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as submitting expense reports, coordinating travel logistics, and managing game schedules.

Qualifications

  • Deep passion for baseball, with extensive knowledge relating to evaluation and player development principles.
  • Proven experience in professional player evaluation.
  • Strong analytical and observational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work nontraditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to travel as required.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license

Physical Demands
